SUMMARY
A private family who own a beautiful estate on Lac Saint-Joseph, in the Quebec City region, is looking for an experienced Domestic Couple and Estate Caretakers to handle the day to day management, upkeep and watch over the property.
This permanent position is an excellent opportunity for a self-directed, discreet and versatile couple looking to build a long term future in a stable and respectful work environment.
The successful candidates will keep the main residence, the outbuildings and the grounds in impeccable condition all year round. They will also make sure the systems run properly and provide support during the family's and their guests' stays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Estate management
- Provide general upkeep of the main residence and secondary buildings.
- Keep interior spaces clean, organized and ready to welcome the owners at all times.
- Carry out regular inspections of the property.
- Coordinate maintenance work with outside suppliers when required.
- Manage inventories of household products and supplies.
- Make sure the mechanical systems run properly and report any issue promptly.
Housekeeping
- Carry out the full cleaning of the residence.
- Handle the laundry, ironing and the care of household linens.
- Care for delicate surfaces, furniture and high end materials according to best practice.
- Prepare bedrooms and living areas before the owners or guests arrive.
Grounds and estate upkeep
- Provide general upkeep of the grounds and landscaping.
- Supervise or carry out seasonal work, including snow clearing, access maintenance, exterior cleaning and preparing the docks and outdoor furniture.
- Carry out various manual tasks and minor repairs.
- Keep the garages, workshops, sheds and other outbuildings clean.
- Keep vehicles, motorized equipment and tools in good working order.
Caretaking and security
- Provide a reassuring presence on the estate.
- Carry out regular rounds of the property.
- Monitor the alarm systems, security and access points.
- React quickly to any unusual situation or emergency.
- Receive suppliers and coordinate their access when needed.
Support to the owners
- Prepare the residence before each arrival.
- Provide professional, discreet and attentive service during the family's stays.
- Run errands or make occasional purchases.
- Help prepare private events when required.
- Work with other staff or suppliers to keep the estate running smoothly.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of five years of experience as a domestic couple, estate caretakers or in the upkeep of a high end private residence.
- Must speak French or English.
- Excellent autonomy and sense of organization.
- Versatility and the ability to handle a wide range of responsibilities.
- Very high discretion and absolute respect for confidentiality.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Good practical skills and general knowledge of building maintenance.
- Team spirit and excellent communication skills.
- Proactive approach and constant attention to detail.
- Able to provide discreet, almost invisible service while anticipating the owners' needs.
- Valid driver's licence; a pleasure craft operator card is an asset.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Available to work the occasional evening, weekend or public holiday when the owners are in residence.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Permanent full-time position.
- Mainly Monday to Friday, with flexibility depending on the owners' presence.
- Independent on-site accommodation provided.
- Salary: 140,000 to 160,000 dollars.
