SUMMARY
A warm and welcoming family in Senneville, Quebec, is looking for an experienced, caring and professional Nanny to provide daily care and support the wellbeing and healthy development of their young toddler.
The successful candidate will become a trusted member of the household, keeping the child safe and well while respecting the family's routines, parenting philosophy and household standards.
This is an excellent long term opportunity for an early childhood professional who enjoys creating a positive, stimulating and well structured environment. The family plans to move to the Montreal area in the future, so the successful candidate needs to be open to that change of location.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Childcare and daily routine
- Provide attentive supervision and keep the child safe and well at all times.
- Follow the established routines, including meals, naps, hygiene and age appropriate activities.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for the child.
- Handle diaper changes, support toilet learning, give baths and help with dressing as needed.
- Monitor the child's health and report any concern to the parents promptly.
- Provide a warm, safe, positive and caring environment.
Child development
- Plan educational, creative and recreational activities suited to the child's stage of development.
- Support language, cognitive, social and emotional development through play and daily interaction.
- Encourage outdoor time, physical activity and discovery.
- Maintain consistent routines and encourage positive behaviour in line with the parents' approach.
- Gradually foster the child's independence while providing appropriate guidance.
Child related duties
- Prepare the child's meals and snacks.
- Clean bottles, dishes and feeding equipment.
- Keep the child's bedroom, nursery, play areas and personal belongings clean and well organized.
- Wash, fold and put away the child's clothing, bedding and linens.
- Organize toys, books and clothing, including seasonal wardrobe rotation.
- Manage the child's supplies and let the parents know when items need restocking.
Outings and activities
- Take the child to the park, to activities, classes, appointments and other approved outings.
- Prepare everything needed before each outing.
- Follow safe practices during all travel.
- Keep the parents informed of the schedule and of how activities went while the child is away from the residence.
Communication and teamwork
- Keep open and regular communication with the parents about daily routines, development and wellbeing.
- Promptly report any illness, injury, developmental milestone or other concern.
- Work closely with the parents to keep routines, expectations and educational methods consistent.
Professionalism
- Keep all information about the family confidential at all times.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, discretion and sound judgment.
- Respect the family's privacy and the standards of the residence.
- Stay actively engaged with the child throughout working hours.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Substantial experience as a nanny or in a similar childcare role within a private residence.
- Genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
- Strong knowledge of infant and toddler safety, daily routines and age related developmental milestones.
- Patient, caring, reliable and highly organized.
- Excellent command of English, spoken and written.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in a home with a dog.
- Willing to travel with the family occasionally, by mutual agreement.
- Valid driver's licence and own vehicle.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
